Stop Motion Freak.

I am baffled by how my friends can actually say that Corpse Bride is total horse shit. Granted perhaps expectations were high because of the classic that is The Nightmare Before Christmas, but I don't think credit should be taken in any way from Corpse Bride. Sure the story is a little weak but it still offers a tale of optimism, romance and a very lively afterlife shown in classic Tim Burton style. And it is a visual masterpiece despite what some might think.

Perhaps some people don't know the shit producers and directors have to go throught to produce such a movie. You can't just create everything in a short period of time, you can't act it out, you can't simply generate a background(I'm way too lazy to elaborate). A stop motion animation film takes years of work, planning and execution. I for one find it very imaginative and love the way they handle the character models and the ideas used. Perhaps we've all been spoiled too much by computer animation to really appreciate something different.

If I'm not mistaken, Corpse Bride managed to surpass the box office total of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Yea sure, ticket prices were much lower back then but in this age of computer animation, it is still an impressive achievement for a stop motion film to be so successful.

Scraps for the win!

Now awaiting "9" coming out in 2007. A post-apocalyptic nightmare in which all of humanity is threatened. Produced by Tim Burton. Sweet. I think it looks awesome but will have to wait for more news on the animated film.
